PARKERS PRAIRIE – Park Rapids won two close matches in singles to top Parkers Prairie 4-2 in a girls tennis match between Section 8A teams on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
Ella Ehler blanked Elektra Blumer 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles while Mickey Clark and Macy Goochey posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Dakota Moske and Elizabeth Harstad at No. 1 doubles to give the Panthers the early lead.
The Panthers earned the win with Morgan Koppelman’s 6-1, 1-6, 10-4 win over Aili Toyli at No. 1 singles and Kate Dravis’ 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 win over Anna Helling at No. 4 singles.
Emmy Goochey and Abby Runyan trailed 7-5, 5-5 at No. 2 doubles when that match was called because of darkness.
The win lifted Park Rapids’ record to 2-1 against section opponents and 5-9 overall. The Panthers had gone 1-8 in their previous nine dual meets.
