The first woman hired in manufacturing at PepsiCo’s Riverside plant is being honored in a unique way — with her photo on the side of a big rig.
Nora Chagolla was recognized in a Friday, March 22, ceremony to celebrate the Riverside resident’s more than 30-year career, a PepsiCo news release states.
This initiative was part of the She is PepsiCo campaign that spotlights women with company roles such as manufacturing, transportation and operations.
Chagolla is a production lead and a two-time winner of PepsiCo’s Chairman Circle of Champions award. The prize, given each year, goes to top one-tenth of 1% of operations team members across the globe, the release states.
“Her leadership, commitment and outstanding work ethic are an inspiration to women both in and out of the workplace and her career has even motivated her family,” states the release, which adds that her son Kenneth, son-in-law Fernando, and granddaughter Nora, also now work for PepsiCo.
The truck featuring Chagolla will make routes throughout Southern California.
Chagolla is one of 32 women being honored in the She is PepsiCo program during Women’s History Month. The effort “aims to celebrate and empower women, showcase their transformative abilities and help recruit even more to apply for frontline roles,” the release states.
