Ultra-rare Ferrari F1 Championship winning ring commissioned by Michael Schumacher goes on the market

AN ULTRA-RARE Ferrari Championship winning ring commissioned by Michael Schumacher has hit the market – and it could be yours.

The 18 Karat gold and diamond ring is one of just a few that were handed out by the F1 legend and the Ferrari team as a gift to team members at the end of the 2003 season.

It commemorates the five Constructor’s Titles lead under former Ferrari F1 chief Jean Todt, with, “1999,2000,2001,2002,2003” written down one side.

On top is “Ferrari F1 World Champions” written around a Ferrari logo, with “18K” stamped to the inner.

And the ring could now be yours after it was listed on the Bonham Cars website ahead of the Miami Auction Online next week.

Bids can be placed as of midday on Monday, April 29, with the auction running until Monday, May 13.

The Ferrari Championship 18K Gold and Diamond ring, commissioned by Michael Schumacher, will be Lot 52.

However, you’ll have to pay a pretty penny if you want to stand a chance of getting your hands on it.

Bonham Cars estimate that the Schumacher-commissioned ring will sell in the region of £5,000-£6,000.

It is one of 66 items up for grabs and the joint-third most expensive item on the lot.

A Ferrari Championship 18K white Gold and diamond ring, commissioned by Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello is also due to auction.

The most expensive item is a Ferrari F2001 engine coffee table (£12,000-£15,000), followed by Sebastian Vettel Red Bull Racing 2008 Jerez testing race overalls (£8,000-£10,000).

Schumacher’s family will also auction off the German F1 great’s personal luxury watch collection in a matter of weeks.

Schumacher’s wife Corinna, 55, is said to be the driving force behind the decision to auction off her husband’s watches.

The condition of the former racing driver remains a mystery to the public after he suffered a serious brain injury while skiing in 2013.

One of his pals has recently told of his agony over the racing star’s near-fatal ski accident because he never took risks on the slopes.

Ex-Mercedes chief Norbert Haug, 71, revealed that the seven-time world champion was on a “harmless trip” and had everything “under control” when he crashed.

One of Schumacher’s former racing opponents has also opened up about how a return to F1 would “not be possible” for the stricken star.

Ex-Benetton driver Giancarlo Fisichella said Schumacher could have gone on to become a team principal for a top team.
