Friday night was one of the bigger events on the schedule: the annual Kool April Nites Cruise. It’s an event so big, it closes off parts of Cypress Avenue, Hilltop Drive, Dana Drive, and Churn Creek Road for two hours.

The Northstate’s News Tyler Van Dyke was there to bring us the sights and sounds of the evening.
It’s one of the biggest events to happen in Redding for the year, featuring a ton of classic cars.
It is such a highly anticipated event that hundreds of people lined up all along Hilltop and Dana Drive hours before the start in order to get a good viewing spot.

The cruise featured almost every classic car you could think of. and the only requirement was they had to be street-legal and from 1979 or older.
There were also unique cars and trucks like a Tow Mater-themed truck from the classic Disney movie “Cars”, as well as military vehicles, a few fire engines, and even low riders.

Van Dyke got the chance to speak with a Redding man who experienced it for the first time this year.
“It’s a lot of fun we caught the tail end of it, got off work a little bit late but it’s a lot of fun coming out here and seeing what’s going on it’s amazing seeing how many of these classic cars are around Redding,” Greeser said.
It was also a great event to enjoy for his birthday.

“Here with my kids so ya know we’re getting to spend that together and do that, I always love doing the family thing with it too and I love the smell of the old exhaust, ya know I just do.”
Greeser also said he grew up around cars.
“My dad worked on them and taught me some stuff and ya know I’ve always enjoyed it.”
It was another successful and exciting Kool April Nites Cruise for the Redding community to enjoy.

If you are someone who loves classic cars you won’t want to miss the Big Show & Shine starting Saturday at 7 a.m. in the morning over at the Civic Auditorium. Then on Sunday, all the winning cars from that will be on display.
