The update will be accompanied by a handful of additional software for Apple’s extensive product range. The company has been working on a wide range of large language models, but it is also seeking outside help to make the platform more fuller.
Mark Gurman reports that Apple has initiated talks with OpenAI again to bring its generative AI technology to iOS 18. Apple is rumored to not introduce a chatbot with iOS 18, and OpenAI, being the pioneer in the industry, could offer ChatGPT-like capability on the iPhone. However, it depends if the two companies have struck a deal or if it is a no-go for OpenAI.
Take note that these are mere speculations as it is still unclear how Apple will utilize OpenAI’s generative AI technology in iOS 18. The report coins that the two companies are working to secure a potential agreement for the technology.
