Earlier this year, Razer announced the all-new Blade 18, the company’s new version of its biggest and baddest gaming laptop, powered by NVIDIA’s RTX 50-series laptop GPUs, stating that its launch would be coming later in the year. That time has come. Sporting mostly the same design as the previous model, Razer made some minor adjustments to refine the look, while also cranking up the performance by using Intel’s and NVIDIA’s latest chips and integrating a dual-mode display. Razer initially stated that the Blade 18 would start at a price of $3,199.99. However, now that it’s finally available for purchase, it’s coming with a notable increase to the price that gamers will surely feel in their wallets, as the new price will be $3,499.99
The launch of the Razer Blade 18 at a higher price should surprise no one
While the price increase is no doubt a bit of a shock to consumers who may have been looking to purchase this laptop, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise for at least two reasons. For one, tariffs imposed by President Trump have been causing increased prices for many products. Razer hasn’t confirmed if tariffs are the reason for the price increase in this case. Having said that, it would be a logical explanation, given the increase in price for several RTX 50-series desktop GPUs.
Secondly, Razer halted sales of its laptops on the Razer website just before Trump’s tariffs were about to begin, causing suspicion that a price increase might be coming. Razer also wouldn’t be the first company to do this. Other laptop brands halted sales at the same time. While other companies halted sales until they could figure out what to do about the tariff situation.
Razer’s implementation of a higher price really seemed inevitable, given the laptop’s pricey components and the increases on the same types of products elsewhere.
The top-end model retails for nearly $5,000
Razer, like other gaming laptop brands, offers multiple configurations of the new Blade 18. The starting model, which will now retail at $3,499.99, comes with NVIDIA’s RTX 5070 Ti. Razer will also sell an RTX 5080 model priced at $4,099.99. If you want to go all out for the top-end model, which comes with the RTX 5090, you’re looking at a cool $4,899.99. That’s $400 more than what it was going to cost at the time of its announcement.
It’s also worth noting that the Blade 18 with an RTX 5090 can go even higher if you opt for the 64GB of RAM and 4TB of storage. This pushes the price to $5,199.99. It ain’t cheap, but if you want a laptop that effectively serves as a desktop replacement (for the most part), this will certainly do the job. You can buy the new Razer Blade 18 exclusively from Razer’s website and at physical Razer Store locations.
