Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 aiming at a new record; camera details surface

The Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 is aiming at a new record, as the phone aims to become the thinnest foldable smartphone around. This information comes from Digital Chat Station, a well-known tipster.

The Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 aims to break the HONOR Magic V2’s record

As many of you know, the HONOR Magic V2 is the thinnest foldable around at the moment. The phone is 4.7mm thick when unfolded, and 9.9mm when folded. Well, granted the Vivo X Fold 3 is barely thinner when unfolded, but it’s 0.1mm thicker when folded. So the Magic V2 is still the thinnest if we’re looking at the folded state.

In any case, the tipster did also say that both the Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 and MIX Flip will be fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. He also said that the same 50-megapixel 1/1.55-inch main camera with OIS will be included on both.

Both devices will also include a 60-megapixel OmniVision OV60A 2x telephoto camera with 1/2.8-inch size, and a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera. The Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 will also add a fourth camera, a 10-megapixel periscope telephoto unit with a 5x optical zoom.

The new ‘MIX Fold’ device will also offer an IP rating for the first time in the series

The Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 is also said to offer an IP rating for the first time in the series. It will also support wireless charging, which is something that its predecessor did offer as well.

Both smartphones are expected to arrive in the third quarter of 2024. We still don’t know when exactly, though. They’re for sure coming before the Xiaomi 15 series which is expected to drop in October or November, but most likely October.

Previous Xiaomi MIX Fold devices were all exclusive to China. Let’s hope that the Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 and Xiaomi MIX Flip will be available globally, at least one of them. Also, do note that the MIX Flip will become Xiaomi’s very first clamshell foldable.
