Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Ultra flagship smartphones globally a couple of months ago, after introducing them in China first. Now, the company is preparing to launch the Xiaomi 16 series of flagship offerings later this year. If we believe the reports, Xiaomi will introduce the new flagships soon after Qualcomm unleashes the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 SoC in October. Now, ahead of the official unveiling, a leaked CAD render has given us an early look at the design of the Xiaomi 16 smartphone.
Xiaomi 16 could have a two-tone finish and a square camera island
As you can see in the leaked photo, the Xiaomi 16 could feature a refinement of the Xiaomi 15’s design. The upcoming flagship will have a two-tone design, which you can get a better idea of by checking the render below. The source has created the render based on a sketch of the device. Similar to the Xiaomi 15, the Xiaomi 16 appears to have a flat screen with highly narrow bezels and a punch-hole design to house the selfie camera.

The volume rocker and power button remain in the same position on the right side. At the rear, the Xiaomi 16 has a large square camera island, which appears to house three lenses and the LEICA branding. There’s also a dual-LED flash unit on the right side of the protruding camera island.
It looks like the Xiaomi 16 still has flat sides, but slightly rounded edges help offer a more ergonomic design. The bottom features a USB Type-C charging port, a speaker, and the SIM tray.
Xiaomi could power the flagship with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 SoC
According to the leaks so far, Xiaomi could pack the Xiaomi 16 flagship with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 processor. It could offer a compact form factor with a display size between 6.32 and 6.36 inches. The device could offer a massive 6,800mAh battery that supports 100W fast charging technology. To compare, the Xiaomi 15 has a 5,240mAh battery, which supports 90W fast charging tech.
In the camera department, the Xiaomi 16 could retain a 50MP triple camera setup at the rear, including a periscope telephoto lens. Furthermore, the leaks indicate that the phone will have improved IP69 certification and a metal frame, ensuring premium durability.
That said, Xiaomi may introduce the Xiaomi 16 in China in September or October 2025. The company could launch the device globally alongside a Pro or Ultra model at the Mobile World Congress event in 2026.
