Woman dies after being hit by car in CT; driver remained at scene – Hartford Courant


A woman has died after she was hit by a car while walking in Connecticut late Friday, police said.

Hamden police said the woman was hit by the car in the area of the 2000 block of Dixwell Avenue in Hamden just before 11 p.m. Friday.

Hamden Police Department officers responded to the area of 2000 block of Dixwell Avenue after receiving a report of a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle at 10:52 p.m., police said.

The officers found the injured woman and she was taken to an area hospital, police said.

The initial report was that the injuries were not believed to be life threatening, police said. However, just before midnight, officers were notified by the hospital that the female who was being treated had died as a result of her injuries, police said in an email.

The victim’s name is not being released yet, pending notification of her family, police said in the email.

The operator of the vehicle was present at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

This accident remains under investigation, police said.

The Hamden Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team is leading the investigating into the accident.
