Wilson County auto dealer charged with insurance fraud – WITN

RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) – An Eastern Carolina car dealer is facing insurance fraud accusations.

Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey says Alphonso Murray has been charged with insurance fraud, obtaining property by false pretense, and two counts of car title application fraud.

The state says Murray owns Murray’s Auto World on Highway 301 outside of Wilson.

Investigators say Murray bilked Allstate Insurance of some $4,300 by claiming to be the lienholder for a vehicle that was involved in a crash. They say Murray submitted a forged signature on the vehicle’s title to the DMV.

The 54-year-old man from Harrells was arrested on Wednesday and released after posting a $5,000 unsecured bond.
