If you’re an audio lover, then you should be familiar with WiiM. The company focuses on premium and high-quality devices, like network streamers, amps, etc. The company just took the wraps off a set of three new device that promise to give you a great listening experience. These are the WiiM Sound, the Sub Pro, and the WiiM Amp Ultra.
Starting off with the WiiM Sound, this is the company’s first smart speaker
There’s no getting around it, the WiiM sound shares some similarities with the Apple HomePod. Both devices are marshmallow-shaped, but the WiiM speaker looks like it will be a bit slimmer. We see the mesh surrounding the middle of the device and some of the top. What makes this device stand out from the HomePod is the 1’X1′ display on the front.
It’s small, but it’s still a high-res screen, so you’ll be able to see the album art, text, and other UI elements clearly. This is a touch screen, so you’ll simply need to tap and swipe to navigate the interface.
On top of the device, you’ll see a set of buttons to help you control the device and your media. We see the volume buttons along with the play/pause and track skip buttons. It’s a pretty straightforward device that gives you multiple ways to control it.
Since the WiiM is a smart speaker, you’ll be able to use Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant on it. However, with Google phasing out this voice assistant, we don’t know what WiiM plans to do. We don’t know if it will move the WiiM Sound over to Gemini. In any case, you’ll still have Alexa to fall back on.
You’ll have your choice between more than 20 different streaming services, and these include the usuals like Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal, YouTube Music, Apple Music, and more.
Now, the WiiM Sub Pro and Amp Ultra
If you’re looking for a speaker with some powerful bass, then look no further than the WiiM Sub Pro. This is a speaker with a large 8″ driver that can create some warm and engrossing low-end. You’ll get up to 250W of power thanks to the class D amplifier. This isn’t a typical subwoofer, as it comes with Bluetooth 5.3 and it can connect to the internet via Wi-Fi 6E and Ethernet.
Rounding out the announcements, there’s the WiiM Amp Ultra. This device also connects to the internet, so it can connect with your favorite streaming services directly. Utilizing an ESS ES9039Q2M Sabre DAC, it will give you some amazing audio. The Amp Ultra can deliver up to 100W of power per channel and stream audio at up to 24-bit/192kHz. Just like the WiiM Sound, the amp lets you use different voice assistants,
Right now, we don’t know how much these devices will cost, but we’re sure that they’ll be luxury devices. As such, you should expect some pretty hefty prices. WiiM will launch the WiiM Sound, Sub Pro, and Amp Ultra later this year.
