Wear OS gets Apple Watch-like School Time feature

Wear OS is Google‘s open-source operating system designed specifically for smartwatches. It is very popular among Pixel Watch and Galaxy Watch users. Google keeps updating the operating system regularly to provide its users with top-notch experience. Following that, the firm has pushed a new update to its Wear OS which adds an Apple Watch-like School Time feature to it.

The School Time feature is now available on Wear OS devices

Parents are getting a new tool to track and manage their child’s smartwatch usage with Google adding a new feature to Wear OS devices. The brand is pushing a new Google Play Service update to the Wear OS platform. The build number of the latest Play Services update is v24.18 and the phased rollout was started on May 8th.

The latest Play Services update adds the “School time” feature to Wear OS. We don’t know how this feature would particularly work, but Google describes it on its official release note “If you’re a parent, you’ll be able to set School Time to limit the apps your child can use and silence their device.”

The feature might work the same way as it does on Apple Watch

Even if the description does not provide any information about the feature, we can generally guess how it would work based on the short blurb and the name itself. For reference, the Apple Watch features a feature called “schooltime.” It allows parents to restrict apps and enable Do Not Disturb till the time they want. Parents can also include pauses for things like lunch and emergency calls while the function is enabled.

As for the Wear OS counterpart, we don’t exactly know about its function. But the short info attached in the official press and the name itself suggest that it would work most probably the same way.
