Vivo X Fold 5 Might Just Win the Battle for the Thinnest Foldable

Right now, companies are racing to deliver the thinnest foldable phone. HONOR wowed the industry when it launched the HONOR Magic V3. Well, it looks like Vivo does not want to take that sitting down. We just got the first teaser for the Vivo X Fold 5, and this may be the thinnest foldable on the market.

Along with a teaser, we also got some leaked information about this upcoming device. So, there’s no shortage of information. However, even though the leaked information comes from very reputable sources, you will want to take it with a grain of salt

Vivo released a teaser for the Vivo X Fold 5, and it could be the thinnest foldable

Starting off with the official announcement, the company gave us a short and sweet teaser video. In the 16-second-long teaser, we simply see a person comparing the weight of the Vivo X Fold3 to the Vivo X Fold5.

As you can guess, the scale tilts to the side holding the Vivo X Fold 3. It implies that the company’s latest iteration will be much lighter than last year’s. A recent report states that the X Fold 5 may shave off 10g and come in at 209g compared to the X Fold 3’s 219g. That’s only a 4% reduction, but it’s welcome.

Aside from the video, we also got a nice leak from Digital Chat Station. A Weibo post says that the Vivo X Fold 5 may be released later this month. That’s pretty exciting.

Rumored specs

As for other specs, the Vivo X Fold5 is rumored to have a 6.53-inch cover screen and an 8.03-inch internal screen, both with a 120Hz refresh rate. The internal screen could have a 2k resolution. As for the internals, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage could back up the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

If it uses this processor, then it will definitely be behind the Oppo Find N5 and the HONOR Magic V5 in terms of raw processing power. However, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is no slouch. It’s still an extremely powerful processor.

As for the camera, it could feature a triple camera setup with three 50-megapixel sensors for the back and two 32-megapixel selfie cameras. If so, then this phone will have quite a robust camera setup.

Moving on to the battery, the Vivo X Fold5 could come with a whopping 6,000mAh battery. The Vivo X Fold3’s battery performance was extremely impressive, so we expect similar performance from the next iteration. We could be looking at 90-watt wire charging and 30-watt wireless charging.

The Vivo X Fold5 may only be 4.3 mm thick when unfolded and 9.3 mm thick when folded. This makes it pretty much the thickness of a regular slab phone when folded. We are all excited to see how this phone will stack up against the competition. Vivo will have its work cut out for it competing against the likes of Oppo, HONOR, and Samsung.
