Unoccupied car found submerged on Highland Road, officials say – WAFB


BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office is investigating after an unoccupied car was found submerged on Friday morning, May 2.

Highland Road was temporarily shut down at Pecue Lane by the Valhalla subdivision while emergency officials responded to the crash. The road has since reopened.

According to the St. George Fire Department, rapid response divers went into the water to make sure no one was in the car.

A spokeswoman with the fire department confirmed the car’s driver was not found at the scene.

According to the sheriff’s office, the car was unoccupied, so it is under investigation.
