The realme GT7 Can Play PUBG for 7 Hours Straight — Unlike Me

On Tuesday, realme announced the rest of its GT7 lineup in Paris, France. The company announced the GT7 Pro last year, shortly after the Snapdragon 8 Elite was made official at the Snapdragon Summit. Now, we’re seeing the “lower-end” model make its debut, the GT7. There is also a GT7 Dream Edition that is being unveiled today, in a collaboration with the Aston Martin Formula One Team.

The realme GT7 is a pretty big step down from the GT7 Pro, but it is still fairly flagship-level. Inside the GT7 is the new MediaTek Dimensity 9400e, which is a more efficient version of the Dimensity 9400 that was also announced last year. It also comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. That’s powered by a 7,000mAh capacity battery that is the real star of the show here.

There is a stunning 6.78-inch AMOLED display on-board here, which looks great. And unlike the GT7 Pro, this is a flat display, and not quad curved. It’s great for watching video and playing games.

This 7,000mAh battery can play 120fps games for hours, literally

realme is touting that this battery, combined with the Dimensity 9400e, is able to play PUBG for 7 hours straight at 120fps the entire time, and still have battery left over. That is pretty incredible in a few respects. One, still having power left after that long is pretty incredible. Additionally, playing at 120fps and it staying stable at 120fps for that long is also pretty stable. And the temperature also stays around 40 Celsius (that’s around 104 Fahrenheit). That’s honestly pretty cool after 7 hours of gameplay.

We have had this phone for a few weeks already, and have played plenty of games on it, but haven’t sat down to play a game for 7 hours straight.

A Stellar Triple-Camera Setup

realme is also using a triple-camera setup here on the GT7. That includes a 50-megapixel primary sensor (Sony IMX906), which has a 1/1.56″ sensor size and f/1.8 aperture. There is also a 50-megapixel 2x telephoto sensor (S5KJN5) with a 1/2.8″ sensor size and a f/2.0 aperture. Finally, there is an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor, which is a 1/4″ sensor size and has an aperture of f/2.2.

As you can likely tell by the camera specs there, this is not going to be the most flagship camera setup on a smartphone. But it will be enough to get some great pics, which you can see in our review. Keep in mind that realme is targeting a much cheaper price-point than a lot of its competition, and even its sister-brands OPPO and OnePlus. Hence the smaller sensors here.

realme GT7 Dream Edition is truly a dream

realme collaborated with the Aston Martin Formula One team for this Dream Edition of the GT7, and it really stands out. realme brought along the Aerodynamic two-wing design, iconic silver wings badge, and the Aston Martin Green. It also still has the accents of the GT7, but this time in a greenish-yellow color. It looks great, and honestly, I like this design better than the regular GT7 design.

The only major difference internally for the GT7 Dream Edition is that it comes with 16GB of RAM instead of 12GB. And it also comes in 512GB of storage only. Otherwise, it’s the exact same phone, internally.
