Infinix has always been a brand that focuses on more affordable smartphones, but in recent years, it’s been good to see the company trying out new things, like tablets and foldable phones. However, today, we’re going to take a look at something the company has been involved in for a little longer than those, and that’s gaming-oriented devices.
The Infinix GT 30 Pro is the newest gaming phone from the company, extending the GT lineup of devices. It’s not promising to be something more than what it is, though. Performance-wise, it might not compete with flagship gaming phones like RedMagic or ROG’s options, but it brings enough hardware and software to make up for that.
The Infinix GT 30 Pro Claims the Gaming Crown in the Midrange Segment
Not everyone wants to spend close to $1,000 for a gaming smartphone, and that’s very easy to understand. Some people are fine with a midrange device that can play competitive games well, and that’s exactly the niche that Infinix has been dominating.
It has just released its brand-new Infinix GT 30 Pro smartphone, which sits as the newest device in the gaming-oriented GT series, and it brings everything that a gamer might need, both in terms of performance and gaming controls.
The Design
I’ll admit, I’m not the biggest fan of the design of the GT 30 Pro. I think it looks garish, but I know that a lot of gaming devices are designed in such a fashion. It’s just not quite my style.
The device has a flat screen and a flat frame, as expected from modern smartphones. While the back panel is flat, it is far from plain. There’s a rounded rectangular camera module in the upper left corner, and the rest of the back panel is comprised of black, silver, red accents, and red LEDs (capable of over 14 dynamic backlighting modes). It’s quite a lot for non-gamers to take in. The white option is a lot more muted.
The Screen
Let’s talk about something I like: the screen. The display of the GT 30 Pro is very solid, and that shouldn’t be a surprise. A gaming smartphone screen can’t get away with being middling, after all. For its segment, you get plenty of detail, high brightness, and a solid refresh rate.

The Hardware
The most important thing inside Infinix’s new smartphone is the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultimate. It’s a gaming device and it can’t get away with a chip that can’t carry the weight of games like PUBG or Genshin Impact. Fortunately, this one has no issues with that—it boasts an official 120 FPS certification for PUBG and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
This is the first GT device to come with GT Triggers, which are capacitive shoulder buttons in the frame of the phone, giving you a little more flexibility and control when gaming, whether you’re looking to aim, activate a skill, or start shooting.
The device comes in three storage configurations: 8/256GB, 12/256GB, 12/512GB, and Infinix really wants you to know that it has an Extended RAM feature that can double the phone’s RAM (so up to 24GB). It’s UFS 4.0 storage too, so that’s a really nice touch. It also supports 5.5G networks, which is nice now that it has started rolling out in the US.
The Battery and Charging
A gaming device needs to be able to last several hours away from a charger, and with a 5,500mAh battery inside, I don’t doubt that this phone should. You get 45W fast charging, which isn’t bad at all. There’s also 30W wireless charging, which somehow impresses me even more.
The Cameras
You shouldn’t be buying this kind of device if cameras are a big part of your mobile experience, but at the very least, this setup shouldn’t break your heart. The Infinix GT 30 Pro comes with two cameras on the back, and of course, one on the front.

The Pricing and Availability
With this smartphone, you’ll get 2 years of major OS updates and 3 years of security patches, which is one of the aspects where it just can’t help but show its segment.
The pricing will be dependent on the region, but in Malaysia, at least, the 12/512GB model will cost the equivalent of $350, which isn’t too bad. It will be available in a Dark Flare, Shadow Ash, and Blade White colorway.
