The Honor 400 Series’ Design and Launch Date Are Now Official

I hate to be so blunt, but the Honor 200 series released at this time last year had some of the ugliest modern phones that I’ve ever seen. The oval camera module didn’t do any favors. Of course, that has nothing to do with the actual function of the device, and I’m sure that for those who bought it, the device was able to do the job as expected.

Thankfully, that design is going to be put to rest. The Honor Magic 400 series is coming to follow up the Magic 300 family. Not only has the Chinese OEM made it clear what the phone is going to look like through a teaser video, but we also know exactly when it’s going to launch. Get ready to see it show up later this month.

The Honor 400 Series Will Be Made Official on May 22nd

Despite the big number, Honor’s triple-digit series isn’t its flagship lineup. That honor (pun very much intended) belongs to the numbered Honor Magic phones, like the Honor Magic 7. The Honor 400 belongs to a lineup of upper-midrange devices that focuses notably on bringing solid camera hardware at a price that’s a lot more acceptable than what we see with flagships.

So, speaking of the Honor 400 series, there’s no better time to mention that Honor has officially teased the devices with a video on its social media pages. Perhaps calling it a teaser isn’t quite right, as the devices were shown in their entirety (but more on that later). The most important thing to take from the video is that the launch event is set for May 22nd, which is about two weeks away.

There’s very little that we can glean from the video as regards the spec sheet, but we can confirm the following at least:

  • There will be a 200MP primary camera (though the video indicates it’ll only be on the Pro model)
  • They will support 5G connectivity
  • There’ll be a pretty big focus on AI software features

The Honor 400 Series’ Design Has Been Entirely Illuminated

The video shows off the Honor 400 and Honor 400 Pro enough for us to have a complete idea of what the devices will look like.

The Honor 400 will go for a more flat aesthetic, with a flat back, and a flat frame with a satin finish. The camera module is a rounded trapezoid with two cameras and a flash within it. For the Honor 400 Pro, the design changes quite a lot. The back panel will curve towards the edges, and the frame itself will be rounded (breaking away from current trends). It’ll have three cameras instead of two, one of those being the 200MP unit.

What Do Rumors Say About the Honor 400 Pro Specs?

Some of the Honor 400 Pro’s specs have been leaked, so let’s indulge in some speculation. Let’s examine some of the rumored specs and compare them with those delivered with the Honor 300 Pro, which came out late last year. Keep in mind that the Honor 200 was released a full year ago, but the Honor 300 came out only six months ago.
