Google’s 2025 I/O event was mostly about Gemini and rightly so. The company has invested billions in its AI model, so it’s ideal for Google to show off its latest and best. Speaking of AI services, Google has also announced a new, but expensive subscription, which it calls “Google AI Ultra.” The company has also renamed the previous “AI Premium” subscription to “Google AI Pro.”

The AI Pro plan will get you higher rate limits than the free plan, access to 2TB of storage, Gemini 2.5 Pro, Deep Research, and Veo 2 video generation. You’ll also get Gemini in Workspace, NotebookLM, and Whisk.
The “Pro” tier also gets early access to Gemini in Chrome desktop and the Flow AI filmmaking tool (powered by Veo 2), with 100 generations per month. Remember, Google has also scrapped the Gemini Advanced branding.
In comes the Google AI Ultra subscription tier. In addition to all AI Pro perks, you’ll get 30GB of storage for Gmail/Drive/Photos. Not to forget, YouTube Premium Individual is also part of this bundle. On the AI front, you’ll get the highest rate limits in Flow (powered by Veo 3), NotebookLM, Whisk, and Gemini in Workspace.
You’ll also get access to the upcoming 2.5 Pro Deep Think mode, Veo 3 in the Gemini app, and experimental “Agent Mode.” That’s not all; the Google AI Ultra subscription will also let you access the Project Mariner research prototype.
Pricing and availability
The Google AI Ultra plan will cost you a whopping $250 per month and is only available in the United States. For a quick comparison, that’s $50 extra of what OpenAI charges for the ChatGPT Pro subscription. Ultimately, the new subscription plan is for the hardcore AI users. However, for the next three months, it’ll cost $124.99. Are you willing to spend less? Choose the base “Google AI Pro” plan, which is available at $19.99 per month, but is free for the first month.
