Teen Shot In Chest On Joliets Center Street, 3 Cars, 1 House Struck – Patch


Joliet police believe that someone in a dark sport utility vehicle, exited the vehicle and fired multiple gunshots.

JOLIET — Joliet police believe that Saturday afternoon’s 19-year-old shooter victim will survive the injuries he suffered from being shot once in his chest in the 1400 block of North Center Street.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said that officers were called to the west side Cunningham Neighborhood at 5:09 p.m., after learning someone was shot.

Officers found the 19-year-old man with the gunshot wound to the chest. Officers provided medical assistance until Joliet Fire Department paramedics arrived.

The victim was taken to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department in stable condition. The injury was considered to be non-life threatening.

According to English, the victim was shot while near a vehicle on Center Street. It is believed that an occupant of a dark sport utility vehicle, exited the vehicle and fired multiple gunshots, striking the victim once in the chest. The suspect fled from the area in the sport utility vehicle.

During a canvas of the area, Joliet police found three vehicles and a house struck by gunfire. The 19-year-old victim was the only injury reported from the shooting.
