T-Mobile used to be the scrappy underdog compared to other giant carriers like AT&T and Verizon. However, ever since it acquired Sprint, T-Mobile has gone out of its way to ruin its reputation and trust among customers. And now, it looks like MVNE Roccstar Wireless is having a fallout with T-Mobile as well.
MVNE fallout with T-Mobile
Back in 2024, T-Mobile launched an offering called “Your Name, Our Wireless.” The goal of this program was to convince smaller companies to join T-Mobile to create their own MVNO services. One of the program’s earliest customers, Roccstar Wireless, was the poster child. T-Mobile used them as an example of a company that would benefit from its services.
But now, it looks like MVNE Roccstar Wireless is having a fallout with T-Mobile. In a letter that Roccstar Wireless wrote to T-Mobile, which was also shared with Light Reading, it says, “Roccstar Wireless entered this partnership based on mutual goals and good faith.” The company goes on to say, “However, T-Mobile’s ongoing failure to deliver on core obligations – technical, legal and operational – has not only cost us millions but put our brand and compliance standing at risk.”
Now, Roccstar Wireless is asking T-Mobile to reimburse them $165,000. This is the amount the company spent on the carrier’s “Your Name, Our Wireless” offering. It is also asking T-Mobile to offset some of the $3.8 million spent on marketing efforts, which the company says were “rendered ineffective due to platform failures.”
Roccstar had initially used PWG, but T-Mobile approached the company and convinced them to switch to their network. They did, but problems quickly arose. The company is also accusing T-Mobile of being slow or unable to respond to its complaints about the platform.
Other complaints
It turns out Roccstar Wireless isn’t the only MVNO to complain about T-Mobile. Other companies, such as Lycamobile, had a dispute with T-Mobile that led to a lawsuit. T-Mobile claimed it had “accidentally” undercharged Lycamobile for more than a year of its services. It also said Lycamobile should have caught it. Lycamobile eventually took the fight to the FCC and the US Department of Justice, but ultimately, both companies settled their dispute.
Like we said, T-Mobile has been experiencing a lot of bad faith recently. The company is having issues with other companies like Roccstar Wireless and Lycamobile, as well as with employees. The carrier has been trying to force the T-Life app onto customers, but employees are paying the price. T-Mobile has also reversed course on what made it famous to begin with, with price hikes.
