There are faces new and old throughout the South Shore’s high school softball landscape this spring.
Now that the 2024 season has already hit the ground running, let’s get to know some of them.
Renowned programs like Middleboro (the reigning Division 2 state champion), Abington, Archbishop Williams, Bridgewater-Raynham and Silver Lake retained some of their stars from last year’s All-Scholastic lists, while newcomers like first-year co-op Quincy/North Quincy bring on some young talent to the scene, in the form of both power hitters and aces ready to paint the corners.
Here are the 90 local softball players to keep an eye on in 2024.
Calli Pineau, Abington
Senior second baseman has started every game since her freshmen season. A team captain, Pineau hits for power and is an “incredible role model for this young team,” said coach Jenna Olem.
Brenna Howley, Abington
Junior shortstop has started every game the past two years and is coming off a South Shore League All-Star sophomore season.
Kasie Bailey, Abington
Senior catcher has a powerful swing. She hit .419 in an All-Scholastic junior season and returns to the Green Wave’s lineup now two years recovered from ACL surgery.
Alyssa Burke, Archbishop Williams
Senior center fielder from Abington is a back-to-back All-Scholastic and league All-Star selection. She hit .500 with five homers and 23 RBIs last year and will bat lead-off for the Bishops.
Regan Parr, Archbishop Williams
Junior pitcher/infielder is a returning All-Scholastic honorable mention and league All-Star.
Jill Ondrick, Archbishop Williams
Sophomore pitcher and third baseman from Weymouth hit .589 with 10 homers, 43 RBIs, seven doubles, 19 walks and 37 runs scored in an All-Scholastic freshman season.
Gabby Diaute, Braintree
Senior outfielder has been a rangy fielder and a quality hitter in her three-plus years as a starter. Said coach Katie Jenkins, “She does an impressive job tracking down balls that could otherwise be gap hits. At the plate Gabby is both consistent and powerful.”
Catherine McPhee, Braintree
Junior second baseman bats lead-off for the Wamps. Said coach Katie Jenkins, “Her consistency, as well as her speed, makes her an integral part of our lineup. She displays impressive range at second base and has made a number of impressive plays over the years in big moments.”
Eva Surette, Braintree
Senior will see time at both shortstop and catcher for the Wamps this spring. Said coach Katie Jenkins, “Eva is a solid player whose athleticism allows her to play any position we need her in. She is a reliable hitter who the team can count on in tough situations.”
Taylor Reid, Bridgewater-Raynham
Senior catcher is entering her third varsity season. She was a Southeast Conference All-Star and All-Scholastic honorable mention last year.
Ava Selter, Bridgewater-Raynham
Senior third baseman hit for a .484 average with six homers and 22 RBIs in an All-Scholastic season last spring.
Olivia Roy, Bridgewater-Raynham
Junior enters her third season starting in center field for the Trojans.
Lily Berman, Bridgewater-Raynham
Berman returns to left field for the Trojans. She was named the team’s Rookie of the Year last year.
Tajeiha Madison, Brockton
Senior has seen time at third base and in the outfield during her four varsity seasons, but she will also pitch and play shortstop this spring. Coach Katie Balboni described her to be a “fantastic utility player.”
Casey Hoyt, Brockton
Junior middle infielder has started at second base for a majority of her three varsity seasons. She will also pitch for the Boxers this season.
Abbi Lee, Brockton
Junior will start behind the plate for the Boxers this spring. Said coach Katie Balboni, “She has a great, positive attitude and a willingness to take on any challenge.”
Jessica Wright, Canton
Senior first baseman will wield one of the Bulldogs’ most powerful bats this spring.
Chloe Guerschuny, Canton
Guerschuny plays multiple positions and is one of the Bulldogs’ nine returning varsity players.
Taylor Dolan, Cardinal Spellman
Senior pitcher struck out 15 batters vs. Ursuline Academy on April 5. She had a 1.94 ERA with 116 strikeouts as a junior, while also hitting for a .681 average at the plate with eight home runs and 18 RBIs.
Sarah Langtry, Madison Butler and Paige Medico, Carver
Together, this trio brings speed to the base paths and power at the plate.
Caitlyn Simms, Cohasset
Sophomore pitcher and shortstop returns to the Skippers’ circle this season. Coach Andrew Simms said, “Her pitching velocity has increased significantly to lead all aspects of overall improvement in her game both defensively and offensively.”
Taylor Soderberg, Cohasset
Senior pitcher threw a nine-inning game from start to finish vs. Pope Francis in last year’s state tournament.
Angelina Grimes, Cohasset
Senior captain is a four-year starting catcher for the Skippers. Said coach Andrew Simms, “She provides good, loud instructions for fielders during defensive plays and is looked at as a positive and supportive leader for the team.”
Caleigh Ryan, Duxbury
Coach Mike Barba said Ryan “has a strong arm and a tremendous approach at the plate, which make her valuable to us on both sides of the ball.”
Anna Norton, Duxbury
Norton’s range and speed is key for the Dragons in the outfield and on the base paths.
Maggie Schlossberg, East Bridgewater
Sophomore pitcher returns after an All-Scholastic season last spring in which she tossed four no-hitters and recorded a 1.74 ERA and 209 strikeouts for the Vikings.
Maddie Blette, East Bridgewater
The Vikings’ catcher returns after being named an All-Scholastic honorable mention last season.
Sarah Silvia, East Bridgewater
Senior middle infielder will lead off for the Vikings this season and provides a steady glove in the field.
Tressa Murphy, Fontbonne Academy
Senior first baseman and outfielder is a team captain who is reliable in the field and batter’s box.
Ava Donaghue, Fontbonne Academy
Senior is a team captain who will pitch and play center field this spring.
Emme Finnegan, Fontbonne Academy
Senior shortstop is a team captain who can switch-hit and make key defensive plays up the middle.
Kaelyn Chase, Hanover
Senior is the reigning Patriot League Fisher Division MVP. She hit .622 last season and is a three-time league All-Star and team captain.
McKenzie Foley, Hanover
Senior third baseman is a three-time Patriot League All-Star. She hit .449 last season and was named an All-Scholastic.
Abby Hanna, Hanover
Junior catcher is a two-time Patriot League All-Star who hit for a .537 average last spring and was named an All-Scholastic.
Noey Giardina, Hanover
Junior shortstop was named a Patriot League All-Star the past two seasons. She hit .493 with five homers and raked in 40 RBI as she earned a spot on our All-Scholastic list last season.
Jess Mulrey, Hingham
Senior catcher was named a Patriot League All-Star last season. Coach Diane Whittaker said she “is a strong hitter, aggressive baserunner and really has no holes in her physical game.”
Bilyana Wilkin, Hingham
Junior pitcher was named a Patriot League All-Star last spring. Coach Diane Whittaker said, “She has really worked hard in the offseason to develop her breaking pitches and increase the movement on her fastball.”
Sophia Curran, Holbrook
Junior is a two-year starter at first base and center field. Coach Kristina Anderson said Curran will probably find time in the Bulldogs’ circle this year, too.
Sydney Cull, Holbrook
Coach Kristina Anderson said this eighth-grade catcher “takes charge of the game” and “has a bat to spark offense.”
Maddie Powers, Marshfield
Powers will start at first base for the Rams this spring.
Haylie McPhee, Marshfield
McPhee is one of the Rams’ senior captains.
Emily Harper, Marshfield
Junior shortstop is a skilled fielder.
Taryn Clancy, Middleboro
Sophomore pitcher struck out out 28 batters and gave up one run through her first two starts as the Sachems’ new starter.
Taylynn Robinson, Middleboro
Freshman catcher hit a home run in her varsity debut vs. Durfee, and drove in three runs in the win.
Cristina Chane, Middleboro
Senior captain is the Sachems’ only returning full-time starter from last year’s state championship team. She will start in right field.
MK Maloney, Milton
Maloney will pitch for the Wildcats this spring. She was a Bay State Conference last year.
Shakura Lynch, Milton
Catcher was named a Bay State Conference All-Star last year.
Christina McA’Nulty, Milton
Shortstop was a league All-Star honorable mention last spring.
Shannon Macleod, Notre Dame Academy
Senior pitcher from Cohasset threw a complete-game 2-hitter with 16 strikeouts, and was 4-for-5 at the plate with 5 RBIs, in a win over Whitman-Hanson last week. She owned a 2.69 ERA and tossed two no-hitters as a junior.
Abby Greene, Norwell
Green is a three-time South Shore League All-Star, and reigning All-Scholastic, who led the Clippers with a team-best .580 batting average, two home runs and 28 RBIs last season.
Devon Morris, Oliver Ames
Junior second baseman is a key defensive player and team captain for the Tigers. She hit two home runs and brought in 23 RBIs as a sophomore.
Paige Taylor, Madison Monteiro and Crystyliah Covel, Oliver Ames
This trio will make up the Tigers’ outfield. They all “provide key defense (and) offensive production at the plate,” according to coach Lindsay Allison.
Kelly McGee, Pembroke
Senior pitcher enters her fourth season at the varsity level. As a junior, she tallied 219 strikeouts and owned a 1.76 ERA as a Patriot League All-Star.
Olivia Skeiber, Pembroke
Senior third baseman is a three-time Patriot League All-Star selection.
Emily Alexander, Pembroke
Senior captain has been playing at the varsity level since her freshman year.
Maria Cantino, Pembroke
Senior outfielder has made the Patriot League All-Star team three of her four varsity seasons.
Ava Dunphy, Pembroke
Senior outfielder is a four-year varsity player who earned a league All-Star nod her junior season. She was an honorable mention All-Scholastic selection last spring.
Callie Smith, Plymouth North
Coach Cayla McCarthy said this shortstop had a “very high on-base percentage” last spring.
Marissa Durette, Plymouth North
Versatility is this four-year varsity player’s specialty. Coach Cayla McCarthy said Durette is “unstoppable in every position.”
Bella Piekarski, Plymouth North
This third baseman will swing a powerful bat for the Eagles.
Lauren Trostel, Plymouth South
Senior catcher is a three-time Patriot League All-Star, and reigning All-Scholastic honorable mention. As a junior, she batted .561 and drove in 23 RBIs. Said coach Steph Finn, “Lauren is solid behind the plate, and acts as a true leader both on and off the field.”
Caroline O’Donnoll, Quincy/North Quincy
This returning Patriot League All-Star brings a solid glove at first base and a powerful swing for the first-year co-op team.
Gianna Basett, Quincy/North Quincy
Sophomore catcher will bat clean-up for the Presidents. She was a named a Patriot League All-Star last season.
Paige Mann, Quincy/North Quincy
Senior captain will join the team once she recovers from a knee injury suffered during basketball season.
Lily Dinh, Randolph
Senior starting pitcher serves as a team captain for the Blue Devils.
Sasha Zavala López, Randolph
This junior captain will see time at shortstop and in the circle this season.
Brianna Hewitt, Rockland
This shortstop is a four-year starter, as well as a reigning South Shore League All-Star and All-Scholastic selection.
Chelsea Amaral, Rockland
Amaral is a four-year mainstay on the varsity roster and a reigning South Shore League All-Star.
Kiley Murdock, Rockland
Sophomore pitcher earned five wins as a freshman last spring.
Riley Guterl and Jackie McDonald, Scituate
Coach Andy Barlow said these two sophomores were “our top offensive players last season as freshmen.”
Maryn Noble, Scituate
Junior outfielder led the Sailors with 10 doubles last spring.
Delaney Moquin, Silver Lake
Junior pitcher received Patriot League Keenan Division MVP honors last season. She went 15-2 in the circle with a 1.37 ERA and 188 strikeouts in 107 innings, while also hitting for a .518 average with four homers and 41 RBIs at the plate.
Samantha and Alannah Waters, Silver Lake
Senior and junior, respectively, are both “lighting fast and 400-plus hitters who can also hit for power,” according to coach Tony Pina.
Nina ONeil, Silver Lake
Senior catcher is a returning Patriot League All-Star. Coach Tony Pina said she is “clutch in everything she does.”
Madyson Bryan, Silver Lake
Junior first baseman is one of the area’s best power hitters. On pace to break the school’s home run record, Bryan has career numbers of 11 home runs and 74 RBIs, plus a .534 batting average. Last year, coach Tony Pina said Bryan “has the most explosive swing of any player I have coached.”
Isabella Burke, Southeastern
This senior is a starting shortstop and lead-off batter with three years of varsity experience.
Julie Chisholm, Southeastern
Senior pitcher is the Hawks’ ace and has been on the varsity squad the past three years.
Rebecca Hornung, Southeastern
This junior will bat clean-up for the Hawks.
Mia Bradshaw, South Shore Tech
Coach Nikki Burns said this senior third baseman is “one of our biggest, most consistent bats returning from last year.”
Hannah Daly, South Shore Tech
Daly returns to the Vikings’ circle this spring.
Alyssa Edwards, Stoughton
Senior third baseman is a power hitter with a strong arm in the field. She’s a four-year starter who is committed to the University of Hartford.

Coach Laura Whittaker said this junior centerfielder has “excellent range, a strong arm and a strong bat.”
Neala Boyd, West Bridgewater
Coach Mike Hyde said Boyd “never gives away an at-bat.” The senior shortstop from Raynham hit for a .557 average with 17 RBIs last spring.
Bella Pires, Weymouth
Freshman shortstop was named a Bay State Conference All-Star last season. Said coach Vanessa Haen, “Bella is the glue of the infield and an offensive weapon.”
Taryn Leonard, Whitman-Hanson
Coach Jordan McDermott said this junior “has been extremely productive in helping our offense, leading our team in home runs.”
Cassidy Briggs, Whitman-Hanson
Junior has been a versatile fielder for the Panthers. Said coach Jordan McDermott, “Cassidy has been a huge help in being flexible when it comes to defensive changes and helps getting the ball in play to help advance runners.”
Kaylee Butterfield, Whitman-Hanson
Junior catcher “has a key eye and knowledge when it comes to dissecting batters when they step into the box,” said coach Jordan McDermott.
