Starlink internet launch in India is expected soon but most people are worried about the high cost to use the service. Could we be in for a big surprise?
Starlink India launch has been awaited for the last few months and now it just seems like a matter of time before the satellite internet service is available in the country. New report this week claims the Elon Musk-owned company could offer competitive plans that will entice people to sign up for the internet service. That’s not all, Starlink plans could also include unlimited data usage which is not easy to offer with high-end satellite services.

Starlink India launch seems imminent and the plans could be lower than we thought
Starlink Internet Plans In India: What We Know
The report by Economic Times claims Starlink has got the approval from the Department of Telecom (DoT) and now the telecom authority of the country has sought internet plans that are accessible to the consumers.
The ET report claims Starlink internet India launch plans could be as low as $10 (Rs 850 approx) per month. The company could have special offers to introduce its service in the country and get people to sign up for the satellite internet. To be fair, the company will also include the cost to buy the Starlink equipment that will power its service.
The new Starlink plans for India contradict another report which suggests the monthly subscription fee could range from Rs 3,000 to Rs 7,000, depending on the plan and location. On top of that, users will have to buy a Starlink kit — which includes a satellite dish and Wi-Fi router — priced between Rs 20,000 and Rs 35,000.
Running the satellite service is not cheap which is why the Starlink plans are way higher than traditional mobile or Wi-Fi plans. Compared to the numbers given in the report, Starlink in the US costs $80 per month if you want the residential plan.
