Sony Xperia 1 VII Size

Sony announced its new flagship quite recently. The name of the phone is the Sony Xperia 1 VII, and it actually offers the same size as its predecessor. We’re talking about the footprint of its shell, its dimensions.

The device is 162mm tall, 74mm wide, and 8.2mm thick. Those are the exact same measurements as the Sony Xperia 1 VI. That is also not surprising as Sony decided to stick with the same design, for the most part.

The weight, on the other hand, did change, but only slightly. The Xperia 1 VII weighs 197 grams, while its predecessor weighs 192 grams. A 5-gram difference is not something you’ll actually notice when you’re holding the device.

The camera setup on the back of the Xperia 1 VII is a bit larger, but other than that, it’s difficult to see any immediate differences between the two phones. They look like Sony phones, unapologetically.

Sony is sticking with its design language

Why do we say that? Well, Sony has had a specific design language for a long time now. Luckily, its phones are no longer extremely narrow, though. The display aspect ratio is 19.5:9 now, which is good.

The top and bottom bezels are thicker than on pretty much all major flagships these days. Why? Well, Sony didn’t want to include a display camera hole or not. Some people do appreciate that.

The device is also quite boxy. Its front and back sides are flat, as is the frame all around the device. The corners are, luckily, a bit rounded, as sharp corners are usually not a good call. They cut into the palm of your hand, especially when it comes to larger devices.

The Sony Xperia 1 VII is now available to pre-order, while it will go on sale on June 4. It’s available to pre-order in the UK and some European countries. Check out the Sony Xperia 1 VII specs, if you’re interested.
