LAUREL, Miss. (WDAM) – Retired members of a former Mississippi National Guard unit gathered in Laurel Saturday for an annual reunion.

Several members of the 184th Transportation Brigade met at Laurel’s Veterans Memorial Museum for lunch and fellowship.

“I’ve enjoyed meeting the people,” said Carolyn Parker, a retired master sergeant with the former 184th Transportation Brigade. “Of course, I’m not saying everything we did in the Guard was fun and pleasant, but you look back over it and you make special friendships during some of those hard times that you remember now and appreciate.”

Jones County Circuit Court Judge Dal Williamson also spoke during the event.

Saturday marked the third reunion for the unit and the second to be held at the museum in Laurel.

“We had probably one of the most diverse units around,” said Mike Graves, a retired sergeant major with the former 184th Transportation Brigade.

“You had everything from lawyers and some medical folks. You had teachers and (you) had politicians.”

The 184th Transportation Brigade was re-designated as the 184th Sustainment Command in 2011.
