Reno-Tahoe International Airport announces financial close for Ground Transportation Center – KOLO

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – The planned Ground Transportation Center project at Reno-Tahoe International Airport has received official approval and financial close the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority announced Monday. Expected completion of the project is in 2028. The project is a Public-Private Partnership with Carnac Solutions.

“This collaboration is a significant $299 million private sector investment, marking a historic moment for our region,” said airport authority CEO Darren Griffin.

The GTC is intended to help relieve parking shortages at the airport by creating a new space for car rental services, freeing up hundreds of spaces in the parking garage. It is also expected to reduce congestion on the main airport roadway.

“I want to emphasize the lasting impact that this important infrastructure will have, not only on our tenant and passenger experience, but on the region as a whole,” said Griffin. “Rental cars are essential to northern Nevada and critical for our travelers to explore our region. By modernizing our current ground transportation and rental car operations and facilities, we are not only enhancing efficiency and convenience, but also contributing to the economic growth and vitality of our community.”
