“Maybe in another two months from now, we’ll have a new policy where any new innovative idea can be tried and tested at a small scale, in a sandbox environment, and then we can scale it up to a bigger level,” he said CII summit.
A sandbox refers to a safe and controlled environment where businesses can experiment while risk of regulatory penalties or legal repercussions are minimised.
Vaishnaw said this builds upon the experience gained from using start-ups in railway procurement. “The results have been very encouraging,” he said, adding the national transporter has been onboarding startups over the last one and a half years.
The minister said India hds reached “take-off point” in electronics manufacturing, with the first made-in-India chip to be rolled out this year.
