Earlier today, Samsung rolled out One UI 8 Beta to the Galaxy S25 series. What’s interesting is that the latest One UI 8 Beta update has reportedly introduced some improvements to the Multi Window split-screen feature. For the uninitiated, Samsung was the first one to introduce this feature over a decade ago with the Galaxy Note 2. Over the years, the feature has gone through several changes, but this one is quite useful for multitaskers.
Multi-Window mode in One UI 8 will make it easier to use and switch between apps
Earlier this month, the Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1 update introduced changes to split-screen mode. The updated split-screen mode uses a 90:10 ratio. This means that the primary app opened in the split-screen mode takes 90% of the screen area. Whereas the other only takes up 10% of the screen area.
Well, Samsung is bringing that change to One UI 8’s split-screen feature. In One UI 8-powered devices, users can simply drag the Multi Window border to make one app occupy a larger portion of the screen area.
Remember, you could still keep two apps at a 70:30 or 50:50 screen ratio. However, one-tap switching between apps in One UI 8’s Multi Window mode only works when the ratio is 90:10. In other words, this feature won’t work if the split-screen mode is set to different ratios.
Galaxy S25 series users in South Korea can test One UI 8 Beta
The above change will ensure that users with One UI 8-powered devices can easily use an app as they would in full-screen mode, without even exiting the Multi Window. If you’re looking to try One UI 8 Beta now, you can enroll in the program. It’s live in South Korea for Galaxy S25 series users. Moreover, we expect Samsung to launch the One UI 8 Beta program soon in Germany, the UK, and the USA.
