No Translator? No Problem—Google Meet Can Do It

Google Meet has just become a lot more appealing, all because of one feature Google just added. During Google I/O 2025, the company announced that real-time speech translation is coming to Google Meet.

Google Meet is getting real-time speech translation

You can now easily talk to people who don’t speak your language via Google Meet. Needless to say, it’s one of the coolest features the app has to offer. Do note that the feature is available to subscribers only, though.

Another thing to note is that only English and Spanish are available now, but you won’t have to wait long for more languages. Google said that support for more languages will be rolling out in the coming weeks. This feature will be coming to enterprises “later this year.”

Only Spanish and English are supported for now, but in a couple of weeks, that will change

Google did not say support for what languages is coming in the coming weeks, though. So, we can only guess at this point. Either way, support for German, Italian, and French is probably around the corner, along with a number of other languages.

In the demo that Google showed during the Google I/O 2025 keynote, the feature worked really well. This could be a really powerful tool for a number of scenarios, and the first one that came to my mind is business, of course.

You’ll be able to talk to your business partners with ease through Google Meet, even if there is a language barrier. This will come especially handy if one of the two sides doesn’t know English all that well. Setting up new projects and partnerships will be much easier.

The feature will hopefully work as well in practice as it did in Google’s demo. It also remains to be seen if other languages will be as well-supported as Spanish is, of course. Google has a lot of experience with this, so… our expectations are high.
