Nio delivers 23,900 cars in Apr, up 53% year-on-year – CnEVPost


  • The main brand delivered 19,269 vehicles in April, with Onvo at 4,400 and Firefly at 231 units.

Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) saw a significant rebound in deliveries last month, as the Nio main brand improved its performance.

The electric vehicle (EV) maker delivered 23,900 vehicles in April, its second highest ever, behind last December’s 31,138, according to data it released today.

This is up 53.01 percent from 15,620 units in the same month last year and up 58.92 percent from 15,039 in March.

The Nio main brand, which targets the premium market, delivered 19,269 vehicles in April, up 23.36 percent year-on-year and up 88.56 percent from March.

Onvo, the mass-market brand targeting the family market, delivered 4,400 vehicles in April, down 8.71 percent from 4,820 in March.

Firefly delivered 231 units in April. The Nio sub-brand’s first model was launched on April 19 and first deliveries began on April 29.

Firefly will complete its rollout in 16 overseas countries and regions within this year, William Li, Nio’s founder, chairman and CEO, said on April 23, the first day of the 2025 Shanghai auto show.

In the January-April period, Nio Inc delivered 65,994 vehicles, up 44.49 percent year-on-year. The company is targeting to double deliveries in 2025 compared to 2024.

The Nio main brand delivered 46,582 vehicles in January-April, up 1.99 percent year-on-year.

Onvo delivered 19,181 vehicles in the January-April period. Onvo officially launched its first model, the L60, on September 19, 2024, and began deliveries of the electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) on September 28.

At the end of April, Nio Inc’s cumulative deliveries stood at 737,558 vehicles, including 697,385 under the Nio main brand, 39,942 under Onvo, and 231 under Firefly.

Nio Inc continued to offer a five-year zero-interest financing car purchase program covering the Nio and Onvo brands last month.

At the ongoing 2025 Shanghai auto show, Nio Inc is showcasing vehicles from all three of its brands, with the main Nio brand sharing a booth with Firefly and Onvo having a separate booth.

Onvo officially let its second model, the L90 SUV, make its debut on April 23 on the first day of the 2025 Shanghai auto show, and the car is expected to hit the market in the third quarter.

The third-generation Nio ES8 SUV would debut in the fourth quarter, and Onvo’s third model, the L80 SUV, will be launched in the fourth quarter, Li said on April 23.

The Nio brand currently has nine models — ET9, ES8, ES7, ES6, EC7, EC6, ET7, ET5, ET5 Touring.

The Nio brand’s main selling models — ET5, ET5 Touring, ES6, EC6 — would get updates this year to use Nio’s in-house developed Shenji NX9031 autonomous driving chip, the company previously said.

Firefly plans to complete its launch in 16 overseas countries and regions this year.
