Neighbors report more than 50 cars vandalized near Belmont Blvd. – WSMV 4

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Neighbors near Belmont Boulevard say they woke up to more than 50 cars with smashed windows on Sunday morning. Many of them said nothing was taken from their cars, just rifled through.

“I cried like a baby, and then I called my dad,” Simone Valentina said.

She was one of the many who say they went to get in their car in the Hillsboro-Belmont area and found their driver’s side window busted out.

“I’ve always felt really safe, so it’s kind of like disheartening,” Valentina said.

For Hannah Hexter, at first she thought someone left their garbage by her car.

“Looking through all the stuff they threw out of my car, all the things in front of my car, having to gather them off the street. It’s just weird and a violation,” Hexter said.

On Sunday afternoon, WSMV4 saw at least 20 cars near Beechwood Avenue that were missing windows.

All of the neighbors say nothing was stolen which is why they think the vandals were searching for weapons.

“There were things they could have definitely taken that would have been a value to them, and I didn’t see anything taken from my car, just a lot of things thrown everywhere,” Hexter said.

Expensive sunglasses, clothes and even change were left untouched in the cars the owners say. Now they’re left to clean up the glass and tape up their windows.

“It was very overwhelming. It was definitely, it was a lot of tears,” Hexter said.

As for where they plan to keep their cars now, they’re not sure.

“Most of these houses over here, you have to park on the street. So there’s kind of not really an option,” Valentina said.

On Sunday WSMV4 reached out to Metro Nashville Police for confirmation of how many cars were vandalized. They have not confirmed the number reported vandalized.
