Marshall County Sheriff’s Office to receive AEDs for patrol cars – WAFF

MARSHALL CO., Ala. (WAFF) – Marshall County deputies will soon have a new lifesaving tool in their work kits, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office has purchased 51 automated external defibrillators (AED) enough for every patrol car and a few extra for the office.

Sheriff Phil Sims said the AEDs are simple enough that even a child could use them. As for the equipment, deputies will receive training from Cardiac Solutions to make sure every deputy understands how to operate it.

Sims also said the AEDs are needed in patrol cars because deputies sometimes arrive on scenes before medical crews.

The AED kits will cost around $220,000 and split between discretionary funds and the county commission.

The AEDs will be delivered and used in patrol cars within a few weeks.
