Man arrested after hitting 6 cars, sending two to hospital in Tigard – Fox 12 Oregon


TIGARD, Ore. (KPTV) – A man was arrested on multiple charges Wednesday, after hitting six cars in a serious traffic crash that sent two people to the hospital, according to Tigard Police.

Tigard Police were called to a traffic crash Wednesday at 5:36 p.m. on Southwest Pacific Highway near Southwest 78th.

The driver of a pickup truck reportedly ran a red light hitting several cars, and had been driving erratically before the crash.

Officers found that the driver had hit five cars along southbound 99W and after going through a red light at 78th, hit a sixth car, wrecking both the car and the truck.

The driver has been identified as David Rudge, 43.

Rudge reportedly got out of his truck with a knife after the crash and had to be held down by a police officer and others until Tigard Police were able to arrive to take him into custody.

Two occupants of the sixth car hit were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Southbound 99W was closed for a time because of the extent of the crime scene and investigation.

It was found that Rudge had eluded police in Lake Oswego about an hour earlier in the day.

Rudge was lodged in Washington County Jail on multiple charges including, multiple vehicular assault charges, hit and run-vehicle injury charges, reckless driving, and several counts of criminal mischief for each of the damaged cars.
