Looking for a Senior-Friendly Phone Plan? AT&T Has a New One

There isn’t really a one-size-fits-all mobile plan. This is because we all have different needs. For instance, a teen might prioritize having data more than having minutes. So, if you’re a senior citizen looking for a plan that caters to your needs, you might want to take a look at the new AT&T 55+ Plan.

AT&T senior citizen plan

AT&T has announced the launch of a new plan targeting senior citizens. It’s called the AT&T 55+ Plan and is aimed its more senior (in age) customers.

According to Jenifer Robertson, executive vice president & GM, AT&T Mass Markets, “At AT&T, we recognize the importance of addressing the unique needs of our 55 and better audience—a demographic that values simplicity and seamless connectivity in today’s fast-paced digital world. Our customers remain at the center of everything we do. By listening to their needs and challenges, we recognized their growing desire for reliable and affordable connectivity—all delivered with ease.”

So, what can users expect from this plan? For starters, it is priced at $40 a month for one line, or $35 a month for two lines.

Alternatively, there’s a bundled plan that costs $99 a month. Customers will get two wireless lines along with either AT&T Internet 300 or AT&T Internet Air. The plan includes unlimited talk, text, and data across the US, Canada, and Mexico. There’s also 10GB of hotspot data if you need to connect devices like a laptop or tablet.

AT&T is also including its ActiveArmor service. This helps block spam and scams. Lastly, the carrier says that the plan is backed by the AT&T Guarantee.

Other competing plans

AT&T isn’t alone in offering a plan specifically for seniors. In fact, the company had previously offered seniors a discounted plan at $62 a month. However, it was only available in Florida. Other carriers are offering senior plans, such as T-Mobile, whose Essential Choice 55 plan costs $60 a month.

Then there’s Verizon’s 55+ plan, which is priced at $62 a month or $84 a month for two lines. This means that AT&T’s plans are currently the cheapest. However, we should point out that Verizon and T-Mobile’s plans have more data, so that’s something to consider.
