An electric vehicle charging station has been installed in Lower Swatara Township, outside of Middletown.
The Aero Corporation, a franchisee of the Avis and Budget brands, has unveiled the charging station at 1998 W. Harrisburg Pike.
The charging station includes 22 chargers.
A grand opening celebration was held on Thursday.
The project was supported by a $300,000 Alternative Fuel Refueling Infrastructure Grant from the state of Pennsylvania.
“Our mission at DEP involves protecting clean air for the people of Pennsylvania, and a big part of that is reducing the air pollution from cars and trucks. Projects like this make it easier for people to switch to an electric vehicle – cutting down on pollution,” DEP Acting Secretary Jessica Shirley, said in a news release. “The Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant program supports projects like this one to increase the availability of EV charging stations and other alternative fuel options for Pennsylvania drivers.”
The charging station was developed by IMC Solar, and constructed by SRE Energy and the MVE Group. The chargers were supplied by EO Charging. The charging station will use Nayax’s cashless payment systems.
The Aero Corporation has a fleet of more than 4,000 vehicles. The company serves customers in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Montana, Wyoming, and South Dakota.
