Kirin 9100 early performance figures match Snapdragon 8 Gen 1

Huawei is reportedly working on its latest Kirin series flagship chipset. While the company hasn’t yet revealed the name of the SoC, it is expected to be called Kirin 9100. The new processor is said to power the upcoming Huawei Mate 70 series of flagship smartphones. Not many technical details regarding the new Kirin chipset are available right now. However, a tipster on Weibo has revealed details regarding Kirin 9100 early performance figures.

Kirin 9100 will rival the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in terms of benchmarking scores

The Weibo tipster @DirectorShiGuan claims the new Kirin chipset could achieve more than 1.1 million points in benchmarking scoring. The leakster hasn’t mentioned any specific benchmarking platform as of now. However, it is expected to be the highly popular AnTuTu benchmarking platform. We can expect the next-gen Kirin SoC will surpass its predecessors with higher performance, better power consumption, and in other aspects.

It’s worth mentioning that the previous rumors suggested that the Kirin 9100 would be as fast as the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. However, if the latest leak is to be believed, it doesn’t seem to be the case. With an AnTuTu score of over 1.1 million, the new Kirin chipset will compete with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 instead. The devices powered by the Snapdragon chipset also managed to achieve over a million points in AnTuTu benchmarking results.

Huawei’s recently launched Kirin 9010 SoC can achieve a score of 960,000-980,000 on the AnTuTu benchmarks. So, the Kirin 9100 processor could be around 12-14 percent faster. For the uninitiated, the Kirin 9010 chipset debuted with Huawei’s latest Pura 70 series of smartphones.

Huawei’s Mate 70 series could debut with the new Kirin flagship chipset

Huawei’s upcoming Mate 70 series of flagship smartphones are expected to be powered by the new Kirin 9100 processor. They will be the first Huawei devices to utilize a 5nm fabrication process-based chipset. Not many details about the specs of the next-gen Mate series phones are available at the moment.

However, a recent report shed some light on the camera features of these devices. As per the leak, the Huawei Mate 70 series could have the OmniVision OV50K primary camera. The large 1/1.3-inch sensor with the LOFIC technology will provide extremely fast autofocus speed on the Mate series.

If the reports are to be believed, the Mate 70 series will be introduced at some point in October this year. We will know more in the near future, so stay tuned for regular updates.
