Kentucky Transportation Cabinet provides statement on American Trash Services' permit – WPSD Local 6

PADUCAH — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has responded to claims of permit issues by a local trash service.

American Trash Services delayed trash pickups earlier in April after Kentucky State Police cited the company for safety violations and an expired Kentucky Municipal Solid Waste license.

KYTC’s statement reads, “Ensuring businesses can operate efficiently and provide needed services to all Kentuckians is a priority for the Beshear administration. All municipal solid waste transporters must request permits annually from the Transportation Cabinet. Upon receipt, our staff stands ready to review any 2024 renewal permit applications from American Trash Services.”

American Trash Services said on April 11 on Facebook that it had already submitted paperwork. Almost two weeks later, last Wednesday, a Facebook post said Frankfort needed one more form that would be overnighted.

The most recent post from the company, posted Monday evening, said that the company had “worked with Frankfort and they have confirmed today all of our info has been approved.”
