In Photos: Fairfield County emergency responders check out new technology at 'Field Day' in Westport – CTPost


WESTPORT — The Connecticut Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security showed off its advanced emergency response technology during the Region 1 Preparedness & Response Field Day at Sherwood Island State Park on Monday.

First responders and town officials attended the event to see the advanced technology and mutual aid available to the 14 towns within DEMHS Region 1 that can be utilized in emergency situations.

Region 1 includes Bridgeport, Darien, Easton, Fairfield, Greenwich, Monroe, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Stratford, Trumbull, Weston, Westport and Wilton.

State Homeland Security funds have allowed DEMHS to purchase critical equipment and develop response teams to respond efficiently to emergency incidents of all sizes.

Critical response items on display included police drones, mobile work stations for first responders, bomb disposal robots, a mobile decontamination station, radiation detectors, and more.
