Huawei Could Launch a Laptop with Foldable Screen Next Week

Earlier this month, Huawei introduced its desktop operating system called “HarmonyOS for PCs” to take on Windows and macOS. The company will launch the first PC running the new OS at an event in China on May 19. Ahead of the event, fresh leaks from China suggest that Huawei could also launch a laptop with a foldable screen there.

Leakers reveal the name of Huawei’s laptop with a foldable screen

According to a leaker on Weibo, Huawei will launch a device called the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design. It could be Huawei’s foldable-screen laptop. The product will allegedly carry the model number HPR-W72, suggests the tipster. Furthermore, the source claims that this particular device will have 32GB of RAM and 2TB of native storage.

Meanwhile, another photo circulating on Weibo reveals that the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design will come in a finish called “forged shadow black.”

There’s also a possibility that Huawei’s first device to boot HarmonyOS for PCs could be that notebook with a foldable screen.

Huawei teased the launch for May 19

It’s worth mentioning that Huawei has also dropped a new teaser on China’s Weibo. It appears to promote the HarmonyOS PC launch. The teaser includes a silhouette of a foldable PC with “Ultimate Design” branding at the rear. This gives some credibility to the information shared by the leakers on Weibo.

Unfortunately, Huawei hasn’t shared anything else regarding the foldable PC at the moment. We do know that it will be a unique offering with the company’s operating system, custom silicon, and a new foldable design language.

It will compete with the likes of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold and ASUS ZenBook 17 Fold OLED, which flaunt a large folding display. Since the launch is just around the corner, the rumor mill could share some more details about the device very soon, so stay tuned for regular updates.
