The HONOR 400 series didn’t even launch yet, and the company has already confirmed that it will be getting Android 16 this year. That’s not all, however. HONOR also announced that those phones will also be getting Android support for 6 years.
The HONOR 400 series will get Android 16 this year, and 6 years’ worth of Android updates
That’s quite a commitment from HONOR, as these won’t be high-end devices. Based on what the rumors are saying, the HONOR 400 will be a budget phone, while the HONOR 400 Pro will be a mid-range phone. Though some would say both of them are mid-range.
As a reminder, Google started rolling out Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1 yesterday to Pixel phones. The stable build of Android 16 is expected to start rolling out in June… to Pixel phones. Other OEMs will follow, HONOR included.
HONOR did not clarify what it means by 6 years of Android support. How many of those years will the HONOR 400 series be getting major Android OS updates? We’re guessing that 6 years of support means guaranteed security updates, though we’re not sure. It would be a truly stunning feat if this means 6 yeras of Android OS updates, but that’s not likely.
The HONOR Magic7 Pro & Magic V3 will be getting Android 16 this year too
In addition to the HONOR 400 series, the company confirmed that the HONOR Magic7 Pro and HONOR Magic V3 will also be getting Android 16 in 2025, when it comes to already released devices.
It’s also worth noting that Android 16 Beta is already available for the HONOR Magic7 Pro. If you own the device, and would like to check it out, you can. Just be warned this is beta software, of course.
Now, the HONOR 400 series may not be official yet, but it will become official tomorrow. Two devices are expected, the HONOR 400 and HONOR 400 Pro. The company has already released some teasers.
