Battling in the Campaign
Remember when we said that different game modes had different types of combats? Well, the campaign combat in Hero Wars Alliance is similar to idle RPGs in the sense that you don’t have to control your characters to have them attack.
At the start of the battle, your troops rush the enemy troops and automatically start attacking them. That doesn’t mean you don’t do anything at all, however, as every member of your party has an icon representing them at the bottom of the screen. There are two bars at the bottom of every character icon.
The green bar represents the character’s health, while the yellow one represents their ability. Once the yellow bar is filled and the icon gets on fire, you can tap it to have that character use their unique ability. Every character has a different ability, so we suggest you try all sorts of them to see which ones you like.
As for the enemies in Hero Wars Alliance, they have a number on top of their heads representing their health. The more you damage them the lower the number gets until it eventually hits zero and the enemy gets defeated.
City Gates Mode

You start with your character at a low level, usually 13. In front of you is a tower with different floors containing enemies of different levels. Your job is to drag and drop the hero so he goes to whichever floor he has the advantage in.
For example, let us say that your level is 13. You want to go to a level where the first enemy is of a lower level. Your hero will defeat that level and the defeated enemy’s level will be added to your hero’s level, allowing you to conquer further enemies.
Alternatively, if you go to an item that is highlighted in blue and isn’t an enemy but a weapon or power-up item then you’ll acquire that power without requiring any advantage in level.
Learning the Order
At the end of the day, this game mode relies on your ability to look ahead. If an enemy is of a lower level than you, but the enemy behind him on the same floor is of a very high level, then it might be a good idea to try a different level first.

You can either manually tap all the different equipment slots or simply tap “Equip all” to have Hero Wars Alliance automatically equip the best items for your hero.
As you can imagine, equipping items increases the stats of your heroes, with the amount and type of stat increased depending on the piece of equipment itself.

If you want to make that character even more dangerous, then look at the left side of the hero screen to see the option to upgrade abilities and unlock new ones.
While gold is definitely important to both upgrade and unlock abilities, every hero also has a set number of skill points that you can use. Once a hero’s skill points run out you can’t level up that hero’s abilities for a while.
While you can indeed just buy more skill points, we don’t recommend it. After all, this feature was added to ensure players don’t over-level their characters from the get-go, as that would ruin the fun.
