Google Messages app now has text editing feature in beta

If you have been looking for an ability to edit the sent text in the Google Messages app, there’s good news. Reports suggest that Google has rolled out the text editing feature in Google Messages for beta users. Well, the text editing feature is not something unheard of. Earlier this year in February, there were reports of Google working on the same.

However, the latest news came via Android Authority, which spotted a post on X by user @Jhowkira2000. The user adds that the ability to edit the text of Google messages is now available on devices owned by them, their friends, and relatives.

The time limit to edit the sent text in the Google Messages app is 15 minutes

It is worth noting that the feature works only if both parties in the conversation have it. The X user further goes on to add on the post thread that the editing time limit is 15 minutes. Besides, the original message is visible to both parties in the conversation. That’s not all; the conversation will also show that the sender has edited the message.

Earlier AssembleDebug had managed to activate the feature with some tinkering. But, now beta users already have the text edit feature in the Google Messages app without any tinkering. There’s no news on when Google is planning to roll out the feature to stable. But, it could be widely available soon.

When the feature is available, you can edit the text sent via the Google Messages app by long-pressing it and tapping on the pencil icon available in the toolbar above. In short, the new feature will let you say goodbye to all your typos while texting with friends or family.

All in all, the addition of the text editing feature in the Google Messages app is yet another effort by Google to improve its first-party Android messaging app. More recently, Google added a voice mood feature in the messaging app.
