With the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in the pipeline and a possible launch window approaching, new details continue to emerge. The Korean tech giant will continue its flagship foldable concept with the upcoming device. Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed the specifications yet. Recent leaks have revealed the chip that will power the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Snapdragon 8 Elite chip could power the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in global markets
Samsung’s flagship models feature different processors depending on the region. This is usually the thing users are most curious about before the flagship smartphone launches, and the Z Flip 7 is no exception.
Samsung’s strategy for its flagship devices has faced criticism due to performance differences between Exynos and Qualcomm chips. Numerous reports in the past have pointed out performance differences. These were seen between versions of the same device using different chipsets.
Past reports have claimed that the foldable smartphone will come with Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2500 processor in India, South Korea, and most other countries. Unfortunately, that meant the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite is mostly out of the game.
However, recent leaks suggest otherwise. Sources claim that Samsung will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite for the Z Flip 7 in all regions except South Korea. The company will equip the device in its home country with its in-house Exynos 2500 chip.
Samsung may launch One UI 8 with its upcoming foldable devices
Samsung previously launched One UI 7 with the Galaxy S25, One UI 6 with the S23, and One UI 5 with the S22 series. In short, the company has typically introduced Android updates alongside its flagship Galaxy S series. However, this year, it is changing course by shifting its focus to foldables for the first time.
Samsung may introduce the Android 16-based One UI 8 update alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. The company plans to launch these devices at the Galaxy Unpacked event in early July.
