Foldable iPhone coming in 2026, 20.3-inch foldable hybrid in 2025

Some exciting news has come through regarding Apple’s foldable products. Based on the latest report from 9to5Mac (provided by Jeff Pu), Apple’s first foldable iPhone is coming in 2026. On top of that, a 20.3-inch foldable hybrid will arrive a year earlier, in 2025.

The first foldable iPhone is said to arrive in 2026, but it won’t be the first foldable product from Apple

In other words, it seems like the foldable iPhone won’t be Apple’s first foldable handset. 9to5Mac says that this info is based on a new investor note. Folks from the site have actually seen that note, so this info is supposed to be rather accurate.

Jeff Pu says that Apple has “accelerated” its work on foldable devices. He bases that on what’s going on in the company’s supply chain. Apple is allegedly exploring two screen sizes for its first foldable iPhone. 7.9-inch and 8.3-inch screen sizes for the main display are considered.

Do note that the company will announce only one foldable iPhone at first. So, it will feature one of these display sizes, we won’t get an option of choosing between the two.

A 20.3-inch foldable hybrid device is also coming

In addition to that, a 20.3-inch “foldable device” that was mentioned by Ross Young a while back, seems to be coming next year. It will arrive in late 2025, though, it seems. The foldable iPhone will likely come in late 2026, not in 2027.

Having said that, Apple is way behind when it comes to a foldable smartphone. The very first Galaxy Fold was announced by Samsung back in February 2019, as the first Android-based foldable. If Apple’s first foldable iPhone lands in 2026, that will be over 7 years after Samsung’s first offering.

That’s not exactly odd for Apple, as the company usually waits for the tech to mature before it ends up implementing it in its own devices. Many would say that the tech has been ready for a while now, and we’re in for a considerable wait still. Regardless, don’t expect the company’s first foldable iPhone to come anytime soon.
