The electric vehicle (EV) market is now highly competitive, with the global players trying to outdo each other on price and performance.

They have considered a range of criteria such as cost, space, practicality and reliability.

The MG ZS EV is one of the best value electric SUVs on the market. You can pick up one up for around £11,000, which represents astonishing value.

And ex-demonstrator models with just 2000 miles on the clock can be snapped up for around £15,000.

The EV features a massive cabin too, so the MG ZS is the perfect entry level SUV for a cost conscious family.

However, the experts also point out that the interior lacks a bit of quality. And the SUV has inferior range to the Volkswagen ID.3 or the Skoda Enyaq IV.

The experts remind us that the first generation Niro EV was one of the best cars of its type on the market.

Despite not being a looker, it featured space, practicality, equipment quality, range and dynamic polish.

However, with prices north of £40,000 the EV is not an option for families on a budget.

This is a very good looking family focused SUV, with swooping roofline, galloping horse badges and slatted taillights.

The Mustang is also fun to drive, and front cabin is loaded with tech, and the Mach-E comes with a huge 15.5-inch touchscreen system.

However this is not a cheap car, and the big battery version comes in around £57,000. So its not an option for families on a budget.

Skoda Enyaq IV

The Enyaq IV is priced at the £44,540, which the experts feel represent decent value.

They add: “It puts more expensive rivals – such as the Audi Q4 e-Tron and the Mercedes EQA – to shame.”

The EQB is unusual in that its a seven seater EV with a fairly compact footprint.

And like all Mercedes the interior is gorgeous, with safety and luxury equipment.

Prices start at £52,145 which is far from cheap. However does compare well with other EVs such as the Audi Q4 e-tron, the Tesla Model Y and even the smaller Mercedes EQA.
