For those currently considering picking up a new set of wheels, former car salesman Daryl – who has over 20 years of experience, working for the likes of Ford, Lexus, Toyota, Renault and Mazda – reveals you should purchase your motor at the end of the month for a cut-price deal.

That’s especially true for end-of-year clearance sales or manufacturer promotions, which often coincide with new model releases.

Daryl added: “Strike at the end of the month when sales associates scramble to meet their quotas and may be more inclined to drop their price to get the sales over the line.”

It’s also advised that holding off on upgrades or free accessories until the deal is almost finished gives you additional leverage.

Karen, who’s been in the industry for over a decade and worked for the likes of Volvo and BMW, says that once a salesperson sees that you are serious about purchasing a car, they may be more inclined to offer incentives to close the deal.

She said: “Once you’re near to closing, you should then say ‘ok, if you throw in ‘X’ and ‘Y’ I’ll do the deal’.

“This will make you much more likely to actually come away with accessories you have your eyes on.”

Karen also gives some good advice on noticing potential issues and making informed decisions before parting with your cash.

She said: “If the deal seems too good to be true – it probably is.

“Trust your gut feelings towards the dealer, their space, and what they are telling you.

“Never feel rushed into making your decision – especially if you feel something isn’t quite right.”

Daryl agrees, adding, “It can be hard to spot a scammer, but if it doesn’t feel right, don’t do the deal on the day, go away and look up some online reviews on the dealership.

“Remember, no decent dealer will ever mind you going home to sit on the decision.”

This comes as a car dealer of over 43 years reveals to potential buyers three key things they must do before buying a motor.

And Wheeler Dealers host Mike Brewer has shown Brits how they can save £1,000s when buying a used car with a trick that costs “less than tank of fuel.”
