Dog alerts owner to two fires at Clarks Neck garage, antique cars damaged

An ENC garage shop was deemed a total loss Wednesday morning after a second fire in three days.
The garage, located at 5883 Clarks Neck Road, caught on fire around 1:40 a.m. Wednesday morning, May 8, according to the Clarks Neck Fire Department. The fire was out within 30 minutes, although crews were on the scene until 4:30 a.m.
Per crews, the shop was a total loss but the fire was contained to that area. Three restored vehicles suffered damage as well.
The first fire happened Monday morning at 12:57 a.m. Officials say that there were no injuries and the first fire is not under investigation after the cause was deemed electrical.
The cause of the second fire is under investigation and the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Management are investigating.
No injuries have been reported.
It was noted that the homeowner’s dog alerted him about both fires.
Grimesland Volunteer Fire Department, Black Jack Volunteer Fire Department, and Pactulous Volunteer Fire and Rescue responded to the Wednesday fire.
