China just reached 43% of new car sales being plugin cars! Full electrics (BEVs) accounted for 28% market share.
President Joe Biden just announced $7 billion in grants through the Environmental Protection Agency’s Solar for All grant competition, a key component of the Inflation Reduction Act’s $27 billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, for Earth Day.
Kenya is getting 200 more electric buses by 2026. China led the way with electric buses. Then, parts of Europe and South America started rolling out a lot. Now, Africa is kicking into high gear. More electric buses, please!
On the smaller side, Bolt and M-KOPA are launching a fleet of 3,000 electric motorcycles in the next few years.
Also in Kenya, Kenya Power is investing $2 million to help accelerate e-mobility in the country.
Denmark is doing what I’ve been recommending for years — introducing charging stations that are packed with features and attractions that make them destinations themselves!
On the charging front globally, Google Maps is now rolling out better EV charging information and features for EV drivers.
Mercedes-Benz is exploring combining electric delivery vans with last-mile electric bikes. Great thinking!
CATL has a new grid storage battery that it claims will experience no degradation for 5 years.

Hyundai, meanwhile, announced its factories are going to be 100% renewable energy powered in the USA.
Also on the energy front, GM is getting ready to bring V2H tech to North American homes.
This may be the 20th iteration of the concept, but these semi-enclosed electric trikes always look appealing to me.
On the bigger side, it appears the Tesla Cybertruck is already starting to beat the Ford F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T. Its sales will probably be far in the lead in just a couple of months.
Also, Tesla just launched its new Tesla Model 3 Performance model. And after recent price cuts, the Tesla Model Y is the cheapest it’s ever been.
Meanwhile, Tesla Superchargers, Tesla’s mobile service fleets, and Tesla stores keep growing fast. But will see about the results in Q2, which may show a cutback due to Tesla’s cost-cutting measures.

Another CleanTechnica writer explored what affordable electric cars would take the lead in various major markets if a smaller Tesla doesn’t.
Speaking of affordable cars, as well as advanced EVs, another writer explored electric cars offered in China but not elsewhere, and then went through even more of them here.
An update from Bboxx tells us that its solar and storage and various electric products have reached 3.6 million people across 10 markets in Africa, and that it plans to 10× that impact to 36 million by 2038!
