Bellino, Bruck sponsor transportation bills – Monroe Evening News

LANSING — Two local legislators recently sponsored state bills.

Sen. Joe Bellino Jr., R-Monroe, sponsored two bridge funding bills that are part of the Senate Republicans’ “Grow MI State” economic development package.

Senate Bills 852 and 853 “would redirect $500 million in corporate handouts to a fund that supports bridge improvements,” Bellino’s office said in a news release. The money would be used to repair local and state bridges.

“My bills would take funding from the Strategic Outreach and Attraction Reserve (SOAR) Fund and invest it directly into fixing our local bridges, which will help make our communities safer and more attractive to new development and talent,” Bellino said in a news release.

Rep. William Bruck, R-Erie, sponsored an expressway traffic bill that received unanimous approval from the House Transportation, Mobility and Infrastructure Committee, Bruck’s office said in a news release.

House Bill 5304 now advances to the full House.

Bruck’s bill would prohibit large trucks and tractor-trailers from driving in the left-most lane when traveling on expressways with three or more lanes.
