April 2025 Media Distributor Gauge: YouTube Makes It 3 Months at the Top

YouTube is enjoying some rarified air as it remains at the top of Nielsen’s Media Distributor Gauge report for the third consecutive month.

The report, which examines total viewing consumption through a television screen by media distributors across broadcast, cable, and streaming, found that YouTube maintained its lead at 12.4% for the month of April. This was the streamer’s best and largest showing to date, marking a +0.4% improvement from March.

The Walt Disney Company landed in second place at 10.7%, up +0.2% from its March performance. Disney was helped by its cross-platform coverage of the NFL Draft, which aired on ESPN and ABC; the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship (ESPN); and the first round of the NBA Playoffs (ESPN and ABC).

At No. 3 was Paramount Global with an 8.9% showing. The media company experienced a +0.4% increase compared to the previous month, with much of that increase attributed to its CBS broadcast affiliates.

In fourth place was NBCUniversal, which saw a +0.2% increase to stand at 8.2%. Closing out the top five was Netflix, which had 7.5%, down -0.4% compared to the previous month.

Among the other media distributors responsible for TV usage, Fox Corp. slipped by -0.2% to end up with 6.8% at No. 6. In seventh place was WBD, holding steady at 6.7%, followed by Amazon, which also remained flat at 3.5%.

Rounding out the chart, The Roku Channel was at 2.4%, up +02.%, and Scripps had 2.1%, the same percentage share it had in March.
