Apple’s iPhone 17 Air Battery Is Even Smaller Than You Think

If the battery inside the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge looks tiny to you, the Apple iPhone 17 Air may shock you. According to a new report from yeux1122, the iPhone 17 Air will feature a 2,800mAh battery pack.

The iPhone 17 Air will feature a very small battery, even by the Galaxy S25 Edge’s standards

As a reminder, the Galaxy S25 Edge includes a 3,900mAh battery. That is quite small by today’s standards, especially if you consider that the phone has a 6.7-inch display and a flagship processor.

Apple’s iPhones usually have smaller batteries than their Android counterparts, and the iPhone 17 Air won’t be any different. The phone is tipped to be only 5.5mm thick, compared to the Galaxy S25 Edge’s 5.8mm. It will also have a battery that is a lot smaller.

Much like the Galaxy S25 Edge, the iPhone 17 Air will not be using a silicon-carbon battery. That is unfortunate, as it would allow Apple to pack in more capacity in the same footprint, basically.

The device will weigh 145 grams

The source also claims that the iPhone 17 Air will weigh 145 grams, so it will be very light. For comparison’s sake, the Galaxy S25 Edge weighs 163 grams, which is also quite light, especially for that phone size.

The iPhone 17 Air is tipped to feature a 6.6-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The Galaxy S25 Edge includes a 6.7-inch display, so one that is a little bit larger.

Apple is expected to announce its ultra-thin phone in September, while Samsung’s arrived recently. These two devices will compete directly with each other, there’s no way around it. Samsung recently said that the Galaxy S25 Edge was not inspired by the iPhone 17 Air, in any way. The timing of these launches is… interesting, though.
